Mongolia, South Korea Strengthen Ties in Critical Minerals and Mining

Ulaanbaatar, September 22, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The mining sectors of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea are expanding collaboration to strengthen the supply chain of critical minerals, enhance exploration and mining activities, advance research and development, and build human resource capacity.


Supporting these efforts, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia, the Ministry of Economy and Development, the “Erdenes Mongol” LLC, and relevant Korean organizations jointly hosted the Mongolia - Korea Critical Minerals and Mining Investment Forum 2025 in Seoul, Korea.


During the forum, subsidiaries of the “Erdenes Mongol” Group presented plans for the development of industrial and technological parks, as well as ongoing and upcoming critical mineral exploration and mining projects. The event also featured inter-sectoral meetings and B2B discussions aimed at expanding cooperation between Mongolian and Korean companies. These engagements played a key role in fostering partnerships across the mining and industrial technology sectors.


The forum was officially opened with remarks by Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Damdinnyam Gongor and First Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy and Development Uchral Nyam-Osor. The event brought together government officials from both countries, along with representatives from subsidiaries of the “Erdenes Mongol” LLC and investors from major companies, including Samsung C&T and KOMIR.
