Securities Market Trading Declines from 2024

Ulaanbaatar, September 23, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Trading on the securities market has reached MNT 595.5 billion in the first eight months of 2025.


According to the National Statistics Office, this is a decrease of MNT 297.4 billion (33.3 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year.


Of the total securities trading, 41.5 percent (MNT 247 billion) has been conducted on the primary market, while 58.5 percent (MNT 348.5 billion) has been traded on the secondary market. By instrument type, 42.5 percent of the transactions have been asset-backed securities, 21.6 percent company shares, 21.0 percent corporate bonds, 14.2 percent government bonds, and 0.8 percent investment fund units. In August 2025 alone, securities trading reached MNT 76.9 billion, an increase of MNT 19.3 billion (33.4 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year, but a decrease of MNT 11.6 billion (13.1 percent) compared to the previous month.


The TOP-20 average index stood at 48,814.3 units last month, down by 160.4 units compared to the same period of the previous year and by 591.4 units compared to the previous month. The market capitalization of the listed joint stock companies operating on the securities market reached MNT 12.3 trillion in August 2025, a decrease of MNT 35.5 billion (0.3 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year but an increase of MNT 62.3 billion (0.5 percent) compared to the previous month.
