Preliminary Balance of Payments for January, 2016
EconomyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Current account amounted to surplus of USD 24.1 million, decreasing by 72% or USD 62.9 million compared to the same period of 2015. The change was mainly due to decrease of USD 95.0 million or 38% in foreign trade surplus, reported the Bank of Mongolia on March 4.
In January 2016, capital and financial account had surplus of USD 101.2 million, bringing the positive change of 133% or $412.2 million, while it had deficit of USD 311.2 million in January 2015. The change was substantially due to increased export income credit of the enterprises, and drawings of PBOC’s swap line.
