Book Festival taking place

Every Saturday of third week of September has been announced as the National Book Festival according to a Decree of the Mongolian President with purposes to develop the national custom and to support the trend of reading.
Being marked with huge crowd, the National Book Festival has become the most desirable event for people loving books. This year’s festival has the theme “Let’s back reading in families” with objectives to increase parents’ role in making children love books and to support public reading. Moreover, this year’s festival is coincided with 100th birth anniversaries of writers and State Prize Holders Ch.Lodoidamba, Ch.Lhamsuren, Ch.Oidov and 90th birth anniversary of Ch.Chimed, a writer and State Prize Holder. The 80th, 70th and 60th anniversaries of other outstanding writers are celebrated as well.
The Book World NGO organizes the National Book Festival twice a year in spring and autumn together with publishing organizations. This year’s festival is being co-organized with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sport, the Authority of Sport and Arts, the MONTSAME news agency, the National Library of Mongolia, the Central Library of Ulaanbaatar, the Children’s Library, the Mongolian Union of Presenters and the Bambuush company.
MONTSAME news agency publishes the Mongolian News weekly papers in Mongolian, English, Russian, Chinese and Japanese languages as well as the Khumuun Bichig newspaper in Mongolian script and the Mongolia Today magazine in English. The agency’s journalists and workers annually participate in the book festival to display the works and books they wrote.
