Prime Minister Instructs to Eliminate Barriers and Bureaucracy in Starting Businesses
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, February 6, 2025 /MONTSAME/ At the regular Cabinet meeting on February 5, 2025, Minister of Economy and Development Gantumur Luvsannyam presented the criteria for the “Doing Business” report.
In this regard, Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai instructed relevant officials to eliminate barriers and bureaucracy when starting businesses and reduce state involvement in economic activities. The Economic Development Council, headed by the Prime Minister, will take urgent measures to support economic growth and improve the business environment, holding its meeting every Monday to pay attention to resolving problems in the business environment.
Moreover, relevant officials were assigned particular tasks as follows:
- By the first quarter of this year, the number
of steps required to establish a legal entity should be reduced and digitalized
so that the process will not take more than 3 days,
- The types of industries and services subject to undergo environmental impact assessment should be reduced, the scope should be limited, and the regulations for electronic assessment should be developed by amending the Law on Environmental Impact Assessment, and presented to the Cabinet by the end of this month,
- The number of steps required for enterprises
and organizations to be connected to the energy network for the first time should
be reduced and the time spent should be decreased to 40 days,
- The process of making decisions on issuing, extending, suspending, restoring, and revoking special licenses should be transferred to electronic form by the second quarter of this year, the maximum time spent on conducting these activities electronically should be clearly defined, and should be connected to the integrated system of public services,
- Regulations that impose requirements and
criteria that exceed the law should be repealed.
