Ulaanbaatar, June 3, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Under the “Billions of Trees” National Movement of Mongolia, initiated by President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, Ulaanbaatar City plans to plant trees in eight designated locations in 2025.

On May 31, 2025, more than 300 health sector employees participated in a tree planting event in “IGM” Park located in Bayanzurkh district, Ulaanbaatar City, where they planted three species of trees. At the event, Minister of Health of Mongolia Munkhsaikhan Togtmol emphasized, “In accordance with the President’s goal to plant one billion trees by 2030, the nationwide tree planting Movement is underway. Through tree planting, we are not only protecting the environment, but also contributing to climate change mitigation, the expansion of forest and water resources, and the restoration of ecological balance. These efforts help create a healthier and safer living environment for our citizens. I encourage all participants to continue caring for the trees they plant. Health sector employees will establish a dedicated grove in this park.”

To support the implementation of the “Billions of Trees” National Movement, Mongolia plans to intensify the scope of tree planting efforts in the coming years. Specifically, the target is to plant 570 million trees between 2025 and 2027, followed by an additional 850 million trees during the 2028–2030 period. As of the present, a total of 84 million trees have already been planted, either physically or in equivalent terms. Compared to previous years, the number of trees planted, seedlings cultivated, seed reserves established, and tree nurseries developed has increased five- to sixfold.
