Project Selection to Focus on Reducing Untreatable Diseases in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, June 5, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Health of Mongolia has presented and discussed a list of proposed projects and measures aligned with the leading priority areas for the introduction of advanced technology in health services for the current year at a meeting of the Ministry’s Science and Technology Council on June 3, 2025. 


For 2025, the priority areas have been divided into two groups, which will be implemented at the central and local levels. During the meeting, it was declared that the primary focus shall be the treatment of diseases that are currently untreatable within Mongolia. Within this framework, projects will focus on establishing a biobank to support organ transplantation, introducing endovascular surgery, targeted cancer therapy, treatment of congenital and hereditary diseases, genetic diagnostics and treatment, artificial intelligence-assisted medical diagnostics and treatment, and the adoption of advanced technologies in pediatric surgical services.


In 2024, Mongolia identified cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, cancer, and trauma-related conditions as priority areas for the introduction of advanced medical technologies, selecting a total of 15 projects for implementation.
