Honorable Mr. Ban Ki-moon Donates MNT 180 Million in Support of the “Billions of Trees” National Movement

Ulaanbaatar, June 6, 2025 /MONTSAME/. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa received Honorable Mr. Ban Ki-moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, Founder of the Ban Ki-moon Foundation For a Better Future, and Laureate of the State Supreme Decoration of Mongolia, Order of Chinggis Khaan, on June 6, 2025. Honorable Mr. Ban Ki-moon is participating in the “Sustainability Dialogue 2025 - Climate Action: Billions of Trees” International Forum in Ulaanbaatar City.


President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa noted that the President highly appreciates Mr. Ban Ki-moon’s active work in achieving Sustainable Development Goals, protecting the environment, and combating climate change during his tenure as UN Secretary-General. 


President Khurelsukh expressed satisfaction that these efforts are continuing and expanding today, including through the “Sustainability Dialogue 2025 - Climate Action: Billions of Trees” International Forum, which is being co-hosted with the Ban Ki-moon Foundation For a Better Future, under the auspices of the President of Mongolia.


Honorable Mr. Ban Ki-moon expressed gratitude to President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa for organizing this Forum, demonstrating leadership in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and combating climate change. Mr. Ban Ki-moon expressed confidence that other countries would support Mongolia’s initiative, take it as an example, and step up their own efforts.


Mr. Ban Ki-moon noted that the Ban Ki-moon Foundation would continue to cooperate with Mongolia on advancing Sustainable Development Goals, combating climate change, improving public health, enhancing women’s leadership and participation, and supporting children and youth.


The 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations announced a donation of MNT 180 million in support of the “Billions of Trees” National Movement initiated by the President of Mongolia and proposed collaborating to expand the National Movement into a regional initiative.
