April 5, 2021. Members of the State Great Hural Ts.Munkhtsetseg and D.Tsogtbaatar called a press conference regarding the enactment of Law on Legal Status of Human Rights Defenders. The Law will come into force from July 1, 2021. During the press conference, MPs highlighted that Mongolia now becomes the first country in Asia to provide legal protection for human rights defenders.

Australia, WHO work together to increase COVID-19 testing capacity in Mongolia
n April 9, Australia and the World Health Organization (WHO) signed a AUD 490,000 grant to assist the Government of Mongolia and WHO efforts in Mongolia to increase COVID-19 testing capacity. The funding will strengthen and expand PCR testing and diagnosis in Ulaanbaatar and key regional centers.

roposals for projects to be funded in 2021 from the Culture and Arts Support Fund have been received. The Fund for the Promotion of Culture and Arts has announced to receive proposals for projects and activities to be implemented in 2021 from March 1 to 31, 2021. N. Construction of Tavantolgoi coal logistics center to start in Q2 2021
The cabinet held its regular meeting on April 7, Wednesday and heard a presentation on the logistics center for coal loading and a railway in Tavantolgoi coal deposits in Umnugobi aimag. The technical and economic feasibility study and blueprint for the logistics center as well as the construction are scheduled to launch within the second quarter of this year.
