MP D.Terbishdagva meets Australian Ambassador

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On February 1, MP D.Terbishdagva met John Langtry, Australia’s Ambassador to Mongolia at the State House.

MP D.Terbishdagva appreciated Australia for developing a wide-range partnership relation with Mongolia and spoke of his opinion on present relations and cooperation between two countries and actions being jointly implemented.

In turn, the Ambassador thanked D.Terbishdagva for sharing views on bilateral cooperation and told that he is dissatisfied with regulations on holding minerals licenses, stated in the Bill to amend the Law on Mineral Resources. He told that the regulation obstructs Australian mining companies which are interested much and plan to invest Mongolia.

The MP D.Terbishdagva responded to study this matter. Afterwards, D.Terbishdagva put proposal to collaborate in several actions to be implemented in geology and mining sector. He requested Australia to cooperate in implementing a project on creating Unified National Classification of Mineral Resources and Reserves in Mongolia and in conducting assessment on implementation of the Law on Mineral Resources.

John Langtry said that it is possible to commence the 2nd phase of the Australia-Mongolia Extractives Program, of which 1st phase is undergoing at the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry and will conclude in 2019.

Moreover, D.Terbishdagva introduced a program ‘Diligent Mongolians’ he initiated. The program aims to train skilled workers and create jobs. In regard with the program, he put forward the Ambassador a request to render support to train Mongolian youth in Australia within this program.

In response, John Langtry said that giving youth vocational education is an essential solution and expressed his commitment to support training Mongolian youth in Australia.
