National Center for Child Food Production and Nutrition Training Methodology to be Established

Ulaanbaatar, October 9, 2024 /MONTSAME/. On October 8, 2024, the third meeting of the Steering Committee for the Project to Enhance Food Production and Service Environment of Mongolian Public Schools and Develop Capacity, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Education of Mongolia and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), was held to review the progress and results of the Project.


During the meeting, Resident Representative of the KOICA in Mongolia Jo Haeng-Lan emphasized that the Project stands as a significant investment to support the health of future citizens of Mongolia and underscored the effective implementation of five ongoing projects and programs carried out with Mongolian educational institutions.


Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education and Head of the Steering Committee Batjargal Khandjav emphasized the importance of multifaceted cooperation and understanding for the successful implementation of the Project. Secretary of State Batjargal noted the urgency of completing the Project on schedule and expressed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring contract adherence and providing necessary support. 


As part of the Project, the food production and serving facilities of 10 secondary schools in Ulaanbaatar will be improved, and refresher training sessions for nutritionists and cooks will be organized. Additionally, the National Center for Child Food Production and Nutrition Training Methodology will be established to provide food and nutrition education to parents, guardians, students, teachers, and food suppliers.


In connection with the establishment of the National Center for Child Food Production and Nutrition Training Methodology, the Ministry of Education instructed the relevant officials to approve the operational procedures for the complex center that will be established under the Mongolian University of Sciences and Technology and organize refresher training sessions for school nutritionists and cooks during the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year.
