Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The cabinet meeting on Monday backed a draft amendment to the mineral law. It will be submitted to parliament.

The draft has been formulated due to a requirement for extracting useful minerals from mine garbage and heaps by means of latest hi tech in order to manufacture value-added products and connect them with a payment for exploiting mineral resources. All this would help make a legal environment for mineral companies and entities more concrete, augment the state and local income taxes and increase job places.

Because of a sudden fall of the spar export, for example, a size of garbage from spar ore increased 2-3 times, reaching 500 thousand tons at 43 mines in Khentii, Dornogobi and Dundgobi aimags. By 2014, from some 30 coal deposits were extracted 24.5 million tons of coal, which resulted in leaving 1.1 million tons of coal as a garbage.
