“US Embassy is ready to support realization of law on rights of disabled”

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mongolia Ms Jennifer Zimdahl Galt has congratulated Mongolian parliament on passing the law on protecting the rights for people with disabilities, and said their Embassy "is ready to render support for realizing the law successfully".

Ms Galt said it when she met Tuesday with Ts.Oyungerel MP, a head of the Sub-committee on reducing air pollution at the parliamentary Standing committee on environment, food and agriculture. Having thanked the MP for an audience, Ms Galt said she wants to share views on reducing air pollution in Ulaanbaatar. She also obtained some information about the newly passed law on the rights for the people with disabilities.

Ms Oyungerel briefed about actions of her Sub-committee,"we have conveyed a direction to the government for resolving the heating of ger areas in UB with progressive methods". She asked the Ambassador to review new technologies and projects of start-up companies in Mongolia.

In response, Ms Galt said she will do all her best to make Ulaanbaatar completely smoke-free.

After this, the sides shared information on a course of the 2nd Compact Contract of Millennium Challenge between the government of Mongolia and the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation, on the law on crime and renewable energy, a draft new version of the law on garbage and other draft laws being discussed by parliament.

Present were Nathan B.Johnson, an officer at the U.S. Embassy on environment, science, technology and health affairs; and G.Altantsetseg, an expert at the Standing committee on environment, food and agriculture.
