Secretary-general B.Boldbaatar receives Indian Ambassador
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On March 4, secretary-general of Secretariat of the State Great Khural (parliament) B.Boldbaatar met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Mongolia Somnath Ghosh.
Boldbaatar said that, in frames of the 11th ASEM Summit of Heads of State and Government, the State Great Khural is to host the 9th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP9) Meeting at the State Palace this April 21-22, and that some 90 delegations from 20 states have notified about their decision to participate in it so far.
Mr S.Ghosh expressed a willingness to strengthen a cooperation not only between the two states, but also between the legislatures and said he is working on involving high representatives of the Indian parliament.
B.Boldbaatar said the Speaker of Mongolian parliament had sent an invitation letter to the Chairmen of Upper and Lower Houses of all member-states and thanked the Ambassador for efforts to boost inter-parliamentary collaboration.
The Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP) Meeting is a part of the overall Asia-Europe partnership process. It serves as a forum for inter-parliamentary contacts, exchanges and diplomacy among parliaments, and to promote mutual understanding among the people and countries of Asia and Europe. ASEP meetings shall normally be convened on a regular bi-annual basis alternately in Asia and in Europe before the ASEM Summit.
