Mongolian Economic Forum 2016 concluded

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The two-day "Mongolian Economic Forum-2016" has concluded that ran March 30-31 at the State House under a motto “Lessons, challenge and solutions” to discuss present economic situation in Mongolia, challenges and solutions.

The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj delivered a speech on the second day of the event. While talking about current difficulties in the national economy, he admitted that these problems have been caused by political impact, and that there is no discipline among Mongolian politicians. The Mongolian state is facing many problems due to poor responsibilities of the politicians, lack of willingness to normalize the economy. The political arena is not a venue for making money, he stressed.

The President also expressed a hope that the social life of Mongolia will forward and will develop because the country has boosted an open society. The Mongolians must openly discuss problems they face and must find out proper solution under public consensus.

The Speaker Z.Enkhbold made the closing remarks at the MEF, speaking about present status of the mining industry, mortgage program and a course of big projects, as well as some achievements gained in great construction, agriculture, industry and energy.

Within the MEF 2016, plenary meetings were held dedicated to tendencies of global and regional economy, business environment, long-term policy on Mongolia's development.

Sub-meetings also ran in several halls of the State with dedicated to the 25-year partnership in development, Mongolia's economy prospects, a foresight of the mining sector, professional ethics, a compact and potential state, legal stability, green business, reforms in social insurance, competitiveness of lawyers, a "Mongolian dream", safe foods-sustainable and fruitful business, a national health insurance, women’s leadership, innovations and business opportunities, projects' financing, construction and real estate, requirements of upgrading Mongolian laws on business, a financial market, and intellectual capability of the Mongolians.

Speeches were delivered by N.Zoljargal, the president of the Bank of Mongolia (BoM); B.Bolor, the Minister of Finance; R.Jigjid, the Minister of Mining; P.Tsagaan, a head of the Presidential Office; B.Batbayar, a chief advisor to the PM; Ayumi Konishi, a director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for East Asian Affairs; Vivek Pathak, International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific; Neil Saker, the Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Mongolia; Robert Schoellhammer, the ADB Country Director for Mongolia; and James Anderson, Country Representative of the World Bank for Mongolia.
