Fruit program to increase production of fruits and berries

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry prioritizes to provide population with vitamin rich vegetable, fruits and berries. In frame of it, national programs ‘Vegetable’ and ‘Fruit’ were launched at the national consultation themed ‘Sustainable Development of Land Farming’ held on April 4 in the State House.
The ‘Fruit’ program intends to increase production of fruits and berries, making sea buckthorn cultivation in 10 thousand hectares, and other fruits and berries in 2 thousand hectares. To fulfill this task, 191 thousand seedlings of fruits including sea buckthorn, apple, plum and blackcurrant as well as drop irrigation equipment for 5 hectares and synthetic greenhouses are being suppliedwith loan without interest. Also new regulation was formulated to give incentive for each new fruiter and many other actions projected to be taken including fencing fruit field and establishing forest cover and irrigation system.
‘Vegetable‘ program aims to develop vegetable industry and satisfy domestic need stable all year round through encouraging family farmers, entities and cooperatives. In scope of it, works to be done include increasing type of vegetable, developing protected farming industry and improving supply of machinery for vegetable farming and cellars and storehouses.
All parties' participation is important to ensure implementation of these national programs, the organizers noted.
