Mongolia to overwinter 60.8 million livestock
映像Mongolia numbers a total of 153.1 thousand herding households with 60.8 million domestic animals for overwintering. According to a survey on pasture carrying capacity, 80 percent of the total territory of Mongolia has
enough capacity to graze the livestock, whereas 20 percent fails. Therefore, 16460 herding households have to move to other lands with better conditions to overwinter their animals totaling 6.9 million animals.
However, a shortage in stockpiling needed hays and fodder is observed. Aimags fulfilled the task with 75.9 percent, whereas soums only with 5.7 percent out of 32 thousand tons of hay and 13.1 thousand tons of fodder planned. At the national scale, the winter preparations are accomplished with 82.8 percent.
