First and last female Noyon of Mongolia

Recently, ‘The Last Queen of Mongolia’ exhibition took place at the Bogd Khaan’s Palace Museum, publicly displaying the exhibits that related to her.
At the exhibition, one of the highlights was the portrait of Queen Consort Dondogdulam dressed as a Noyon (a title of authority like nobleman).
She was the wife of the 8th Bogd Javzandamba for 21 years, despite noting the fact that she was the Tara Queen as well as the co-ruler of state and religion, her title of Noyon is rarely mentioned. More specifically, it was in 1902, when the Manchus gave the title of Noyon to the Queen Consort, which is the first and last time such an event ever occurred. Her headdress with decoration, which was expression of the rank, such as the tube of jade with a ruby on top that was coated in gold, is still kept at the Bogd Khaan’s Palace Museum to this day.
Since her arrival at the palace, she continuously studied religion, palace etiquette, discipline and customs for over 10 years, and was proclaimed as the queen after she passed the test envoys used to take at the time.
To increase the reputation of Queen Consort Dondogdulam, the aimag of the Mother Deity was established in 1903. Despite being the very last of the aimags (an administrative division) established in Ikh Khuree, not only her reputation rapidly increased, but the aimag also became one of the four biggest aimags that had the most number of monks during the 1920s.
