Electronic visas issued to 5,759 foreign nationals this yearSociety
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On average, 230 thousand citizens visit Mongolia for tourism purposes each year. Furthermore, around 200 thousand foreign nationals live in the country as temporary residents, said Head of the Immigration Agency of Mongolia N.Uuganbayar during a meeting took place at the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) to discuss foreign workforce, migration, electronic visa, investment, and the development of tourism near the country’s borders.
According to the Law on the Legal Status of Foreign Nationals, it is possible for about 100 thousand foreign nationals to reside in Mongolia as the number may not exceed 3 percent of the country’s total population.
As of today, there are about 16 thousand foreign nationals residing in Mongolia. Some 1,600 foreign nationals are residing in the country for the purpose of making investments.
Since the start of the year, the Immigration Agency of Mongolia has issued electronic visas to 5,759 foreign nationals.
