First Deputy Governor of Ulaanbaatar receives representatives of Sapporo, JapanSociety
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Mr. J. Sandagsuren, First Deputy Governor of Ulaanbaatar in charge of Economy and Infrastructure, met with representatives led by Mr. Akihiro Satake, Chief, Environmental Policy Section, Eco-City Promotion Department, Environmental Bureau, City of Sapporo, Japan, and discussed the project to reduce carbon emissions.
Emphasizing the importance of implementing projects in reducing Ulaanbaatar city’s air pollution, Mr. Sandagsuren gave brief information about energy-efficient housing and other green projects. In addition, he expressed readiness to participate in the research of carbon dioxide reduction projects.
This was the second meeting this year for the project of "City-to-City Collaboration for the Zero-Carbon Society" within the framework of cooperation between the cities of Ulaanbaatar and Sapporo. During the meeting, the relevant leaders and experts of the two cities exchanged opinions about Ulaanbaatar Air Quality. In addition, based on the experience of Sapporo city and environmental measurements made in the capital Ulaanbaatar, the issues of deepening the understanding of energy management and implementing projects to reduce carbon emissions were discussed.
Mr. Akihiro Satake introduced the characteristics of the weather, buildings, and structures of the two cities and proposed appropriate measures in this context. He also said that he is confident that the relations and cooperation between the two cities will further expand as a result of a joint effort
