President, Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister Greet with Elders

and many other Eastern and Central Asian countries have followed the lunar
calendar with its 12-year animal cycle since ancient times. The New Year
according to the lunar calendar in Mongolia is called Tsagaan Sar. The date of
Tsagaan Sar, depending on the phases of the moon, can fall anywhere between the
end of January and early March. In 2023, Mongolia is observing the Tsagaan Sar
between February 21-23.
On February 21, on the first
day of the Tsagaan Sar, the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the
Speaker of the Parliament Gombojaviin Zandanshatar, and the Prime Minister
Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene received the elders in the Government Palace to pay
respect and wish them happiness, health, and prosperity.
Veterans participating in the war, statesmen and public figures, writers, poets, herders, police generals, teachers, builders, and doctors aged 81 to 99 came to the Zolgolt, greeting ceremony.
