Ulaanbaatar, October 18, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Batsukh Nyamdash, a prepress specialist at the MONTSAME National News Agency and a Master of Sports of Mongolia, has successfully summited Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak and one of the Seven Summits of the world.

Mr. Batsukh Nyamdash began his climb on October 6, 2024, and reached the summit on October 9. This achievement marks his second international summit, following his successful ascent of Mount Elbrus, Europe’s highest peak. In preparation for this expedition, he trained on several mountains in Mongolia, including Chingeltei, Songino Khairkhan, Bayanzurkh, Bogd Khan, as well as Ikh Bogd and Khuiten Peak in the Altai Tavan Bogd range of Bayankhongor aimag. The expedition team, led by B. Magnaituvshin, consisted of five members who successfully reached the summit together.

Mr. Batsukh has worked at MONTSAME National News Agency as a prepress specialist for nearly 30 years and is regarded as one of the agency’s top employees. With more than three decades of experience in mountaineering, he has successfully climbed all of Mongolia’s major peaks.

Mount Kilimanjaro, towering at 5,895 meters above sea level, is surrounded by a national park with vast plains and forests. Covering an area of 650 square kilometers, this park is a testament to the natural beauty of East Africa. It is located near the town of Moshi and is easily accessible from Arusha by plane or car. Kilimanjaro’s six forest corridors were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

The dormant volcano of Kilimanjaro consists of three volcanic cones: Mawenzi, Kibo, and Shira. Located near the equator, the region does not experience distinct winter or summer seasons, but rather alternating wet and dry periods. The dry season, occurring from December to March and June to September, is the best time to climb the mountain, with January through March offering the clearest skies and best visibility for climbers.
