Ulaanbaatar, May 9, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On May 8, 2025, at the regular session of the Standing Committee on Innovation and Digital Policy of the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia, a draft Resolution to establish a Working Group tasked with researching a multi-purpose satellite that meets Mongolia's diverse needs and provides effective, multifaceted benefits under the National Satellite Project of Mongolia was discussed.

Member of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Anar Chinbaatar provided additional information on the need for the Working Group, stating that changing international circumstances and national security considerations make the development of a National Satellite Project an urgent necessity. Moreover, the Project will be implemented within the scope of 14 mega projects by the Cabinet of Mongolia.

The Government of Mongolia has been revising the Project in response to criticism from the State Great Khural of Mongolia regarding its high budget and incomplete feasibility study. However, the Standing Committee on Innovation and Digital Policy of the Parliament of Mongolia emphasized the need to conduct technical assessments and situational analysis in preparation for future negotiations, which requires establishing the Working Group. The draft Resolution to establish the Working Group was supported and approved by the majority of members attending the meeting.

Member of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Anar Chinbaatar was appointed as Chairman of the Working Group, with fellow Members of Parliament Zoljargal Jargalsaikhan, Batshugar Enkhbayar, Punsalmaa Badamdorj, Bayarmaa Judag, and Purevdavaa Davaakhuu serving as members of the Working Group.
