Postage Stamp Commemorating the Centenary Year of the Mongolian Air Force Released

Ulaanbaatar, May 21, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Ministry of Road and Transport of Mongolia, the Civil Aviation Authority, and “Mongol Post” JSC jointly released a new postage stamp commemorating the “Centenary Year of the Mongolian Air Force.” The Unveiling Ceremony for the commemorative postage stamp took place on May 20, 2025.
The Yu-13 cargo plane, a gift from the USSR to Mongolia, landed on the territory of Mongolia on May 20, 1925. To mark the centennial of this occasion, the stamp was designed by artist Ts. Nyamkhuu, a member of the Union of Mongolian Artists. The stamp features the first Junkers-13 plane to land in Mongolia, as well as fighter planes, transport planes, and cargo aircraft. Specifically, air force fighters, combat MiG-21, Mi-24 helicopters, An-2, An-24/26 aircraft that were used for air transport, Il-14 and Tu-154 aircraft that operated for international flights, and components of aviation infrastructure including flight control centers, radars, air navigation, “Buyant-Ukhaa” International Airport, and passenger terminal that registered as cultural heritage and runways are depicted in the stamp.
At the Unveiling ceremony, Minister of Roads and Transport Delgersaikhan Borkhuu remarked, “Mongolia has a 100-year history of aviation development. Throughout this period, a reliable worldwide recognized air transport system that encompasses modern and advanced technologies has been established. This stamp shows the proud history of the air force, air transport, and civil aviation of Mongolia. It is not just a collector’s item, but a symbol of the achievements and challenges that have been overcome in the aviation industry.”
In the history of Mongolian stamps, more than 50 thematic stamps have depicted aircraft.
