Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ Mongolia’s joining the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Kyoto Protocol and Paris Agreement, put a basis to develop sustainable development together with foreign and domestic partners, making it a priority.

In this regard, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism organized the First Forum on Implementation of the Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) on October 3-4, 2017. The forum aimed at increasing involvement and financial support of public and private sectors in implementing the INDC by means of integrating efforts of representations of all levels of sectors to mitigate climate change. It also targeted to disseminate concepts on prioritizing sectors’ efforts to combat climate change.

As a second step of the action, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism organized a seminar on February 28, 2018 with decision makers of the sectors, international organizations and partners. The seminar brought together representatives of the international projects and programs on climate changes in Mongolia, the Asian Development Bank, JICA, the UN, foreign embassies, Mongolian ministries of Finance, Foreign Affairs, Energy, Construction and Urban Development, Road and Transportation, Mining and Heavy Industry, Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, National Development Agency, National Emergency Management Agency, National Statistics Office and others.

During the seminar, Environment and Tourism Minister N.Tserenbat said,“Mongolia supports to intensify correlated and joint efforts of related foreign and domestic organizations to implement the INDC to mitigate climate changes. I conclude that the First Partnership Forum to implement the INDC, held last year, was successful. It has been proven with the attendance of high-level officials in today’s seminar. At the seminar, participants are discussing how to cooperate against climate change. Determining purposes and priorities of actions of the Partnership Plan on INDC and building inter-sector coordination mechanism are expected to be fundamental outcomes. It will be a basis of sustainable development.”

At the seminar, parties exchanged views on determining purposes of the partnership plan and satisfying implementations of the plan over the next three years.
