Law on legal status of Ulaanbaatar city amended

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On July 8, 2021, the Parliament of Mongolia approved amendments to the Law on Legal Status of Ulaanbaatar city, the capital of Mongolia, and other 19 bills and resolutions accompanying the law. 


As highlighted by Parliament Speaker G.Zandanshatar, the law amendments lay the foundation to transfer some power to local administrations of 21 aimags, and will serve as a huge reform to enable economic and social growth of the capital city. “The changes are now made to the Law on Legal Status of Ulaanbaatar city after already 27 years, and is expected to greatly contribute for decentralization, reduction of traffic congestion and ensure budget independence”. 


Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city earlier said that the latest law amendments will follow structural changes in the city administration.
