Indoor Air Quality Standard Adopted to Protect Children’s Health
Society
Ulaanbaatar, April 23, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology has approved the Indoor Air Quality Standard (MNS:7106), aimed at monitoring indoor air quality in households, public spaces, and educational buildings, and protecting the population - especially children - from the harmful effects of air pollutants.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) provided methodological support for the drafting and approval process of the standard, which takes effect in April 2026, and contributed to compiling the necessary evidence.
Findings
from a package of studies conducted under the initiative showed that indoor air
pollution remains a serious risk to public health, particularly the health of
children.
UNICEF plans
to continue supporting the implementation of the standard and to work toward
ensuring a healthy and safe environment for every child.
