Mongolian delegation at Asian Leaders’ Meeting in India

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A delegation headed by Mr Ts.Oyunbaatar MP, the Deputy Premier, and by Brigadier-General T.Badral, a head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), are taking part in the Asian leaders meeting for implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in Asia and the 2nd ISDR Asia Partnership (IAP) meeting, which kicked off Tuesday in New Delhi, India.

Within the events, the Mongolian officials have met with Ms Margareta Wahlstrom, the Assistant Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction; Mr Rajnath Singh, India’s Minister Home Affairs; Mr Kiren Rijiju, India’s Vice Minister of Home Affairs; and Mr Fukiyaki Matsumoto, the State Minister of Japan. They have exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in reducing disaster risks, preparations for the 1st Ministerial Conference on disaster reduction to be held next year in India, on a 2nd Ministerial Conference to be held 2018 in Ulaanbaatar, and on realizing the Sendai Framework at international and regional levels.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction, UN-ISDR) are organizing the 2nd ISDR Asia Partnership (IAP) meeting on Nov.17-19, 2015.

The main focus of the three-day IAP meeting is to discuss the substantive preparation of the Asia Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR), 2016 to be held in New Delhi on November 14-17 next year. The IAP meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss substantive issues related to the implementation of the Sendai framework at the regional, national and local level.
