Reception held for anniversary of Mongolia-Cuba diplomatic relations
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Mongolia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Monday hosted a reception dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Mongolia-Cuba diplomatic relations.
At the event, opening remarks were made by Mr L.Purevsuren, the Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Mr Omar Marrero Betancourt, the Ambassador of Cuba to Mongolia.
In his remarks, the Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction with widening of the bilateral traditional friendly relations and cooperation in the fields of politics, education, culture, sport and health, and supporting each other at an international arena.
“Cuba is the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Mongolia among the American continent,” Mr Purevsuren said, and expressed the gratitude to Cuba for acting as our main bridge to the Latin American and Caribbean countries for over half a century. He also illustrated the readiness to share Mongolia’s experiences on economic reforms with Cuba.
The Ambassador Mr Omar stated, “During the 55 years we have been developing our relations on the basis of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, International Law aimed at peaceful solution of international conflicts in inalienable law of the people consisting in political, economic, social and cultural rights. It constitutes an essential condition for peaceful coexistence among nations”.
Mr Omar underlined the countries have been cooperating in many sectors, especially in the educational sphere apart from the multilateral cooperation, and affirmed Cuba will continue governmental scholarships for Mongolian students.
