Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Directors of the KOPIA Centers in Asia commenced a meeting on July 29 at the Ramada Hotel of Ulaanbaatar. KOPIA – Korean Project of International Agriculture is set of programs, being realized in 20 countries of Asia, Africa and Latin Americe in order to introduce modern agricultural technologies in the developing countries, increase their agricultural exports, build capacity and to expand their foreign friendly cooperation.

Directors of the KOPIA Centers of Mongolia, Vietnam, Philippines, Sri-Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Myanmar and Laos are attending the meeting here.

S.Korean Ambassador to Mongolia Oh Song said: “KOPIA Mongolia Center, since its establishment in 2014, has been successfully forwarding the Elite Seed Production Project on the cereal crops, which is planted in 90% of Mongolia’s total land-farming fields. By introducing the technology of production of elite seed to the land-farmers, harvesting can go up by 25-30%”. KOPIA Mongolia Center has launched projects in three sectors, he added and wished the Mongolian side to make contribution to the Korean agrarian technology penetration to Mongolian agriculture.

He presented the progresses made by the KOPIA Cambodia Center, which led the KOPIA communities around the world by performance in 2015. The center has been implementing a project on model chicken farming for improving incomes and financial independence of farmers. With the successful introductions of corn planting and meat chicken farming expertise, cost of chicken fodder has been reduced by 23% and the loss of chickens went down from 27% to 5%. Also, in the project’s scope, USD 43 thousand has been saved and dedicated to improving financial independence of vulnerable farming households.
