Bogd Khaan Palace Museum: The Hat of Undur Gegeen Zanabazar

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Tracing back to the 17th century, this hat was made by unknown craftsmen using silver, coral, lapis lazuli, and sandalwood leaves.
With lapis lazuli embedded in the base and decorative coral, the cymbal-shaped hat is made with leaves of white sandalwood. The First Bogd Gegeen Zanabazar received the hat as a gift from his mentor the 4th Banchin Bogd Luvsanchoijijaltsan (1570-1662) following his arrival in Tibet.
