Minister of Road and Transport Development checks progress of Ulaanbaatar-Darkhan autoroad construction

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On May 6, Minister of Road and Transport Development L.Khaltar became acquainted with the progress of the first and second sections of the Ulaanbaatar-Darkhan autoroad, giving tasks to corresponding officials.
As the paving for the 37.26 km-long autoroad of the first section, which was financed by the Asian Development Bank, was completed last year, traffic movement has been opened with finishing touches currently being made.
As for the part being constructed by Arj Capital LLC with financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), progress is currently at 49.93 percent. A total of 256 workers are carrying out construction works by using 59 tools and equipment for the part of the autoroad.
The second part of the autoroad that the contractor is in charge of is about 21 percent complete. Since establishing a contractor agreement in September last year, 3.9 km of asphalt pavement and 9.5 km of earthworks have been constructed.
During the Minister’s working visit, representatives of the contractor company informed that the asphalt pavement will begin to be done from May 20, with plans to complete the main pavement works by July 10.
The road’s second section, which is being constructed by Zhongmei Engineering Group LLC with EBRD financing, is running at about 25 percent.
