Ulaanbaatar, October 24, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Today, countries around the world commemorate United Nations Day, marking the anniversary of the UN Charter’s entry into force on October 24, 1945.


This historic milestone established the United Nations with a mission to uphold international peace and security, foster global cooperation, and promote human rights and sustainable development.


Over the past 80 years, the UN has played a pivotal role in addressing global challenges from conflict resolution and humanitarian aid to climate action and equitable development.


Mongolia’s Commitment to the UN

Mongolia became a member of the United Nations in 1961 and has since been an active contributor to the organization’s initiatives. The country supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promotes regional peace, and participates in UN peacekeeping missions.


Since 2002, the Mongolian Armed Forces have deployed more than 20,000 personnel to 12 peacekeeping operations, ranking Mongolia as the 24th largest contributor to UN peacekeeping efforts.


A Day of Reflection and Unity

United Nations Day serves as a global reminder of the values of peace, unity, and shared responsibility. It encourages countries to reaffirm their commitment to multilateralism and work collaboratively toward a more sustainable, inclusive, and people-centered future.


Founded in San-Francisco, California, with 51 member states, the United Nations has grown to 193 countries, reflecting the world’s united commitment to peace and cooperation.
