Mongolia Earns MNT 5.6 Billion by Hosting Seven International Competitions

Ulaanbaatar, January 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. In 2024, Mongolia allocated MNT 1.6 billion in its State Budget to support the organization of seven international, regional, and world-class competitions in the country. 


Specifically, Mongolia hosted the World Ice Fishing Championship, the Asian-Oceanic Championships for Free Flight Model Aircraft, the World Snooker Championship, the Tenth International Children’s Sports Games, the Asia “Gymnaestrada,” the Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships, and the World Kurash Championship for Juniors, Youth, and Veterans. 


These competitions involved 1,432 athletes, 121 coaches, 128 referees, 167 officials, and 968 fans from 108 countries. The direct and indirect revenue contributed to the Mongolian economy totaled MNT 5.6 billion. Particularly, Mongolia’s national railway and airline companies generated MNT 4 billion, hotels earned MNT 1.2 billion, and trade, services, and transportation sectors made an additional MNT 582 million.
