Mongolia Participates in the 113th Session of the International Labor Conference in Geneva

Ulaanbaatar, June 12, 2025 /MONTSAME/. A Mongolian delegation, led by Gerelmaa Davaasuren, Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Swiss Confederation, is participating in the 113th Session of the International Labor Conference, taking place on June 2-13, 2025, in Geneva, the Swiss Confederation.

On June 5, 2025, Ambassador Gerelmaa Davaasuren delivered a speech during the plenary session of the Conference, outlining the Government’s policies and actions to promote decent work, reform labor legislation, and improve occupational safety and health standards. 

Ambassador Gerelmaa highlighted that, in cooperation with the International Labor Organization, the Government of Mongolia has carried out a comprehensive review of its labor laws and institutional framework. In this context, Mongolia is taking steps to strengthen its labor inspection system, update occupational safety and health regulations, and eliminate all forms of forced labor.

The Ambassador also underlined the Government’s commitment to ensuring environmental sustainability while promoting decent work by supporting the country’s transition to a green economy. This includes investment in the renewable energy sector and the implementation of programs to develop green skills.

In addition, Ambassador Gerelmaa informed participants about the Mongolian Government's efforts to expand social protection coverage, digitize social benefit services, reform the pension system, and enhance the accessibility and efficiency of social insurance. The Ambassador emphasized that tripartite social dialogue, between the government, employers, and workers, continues to serve as a cornerstone of Mongolia’s labor policy.
