Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold addressed the 11th ASEM Summit.

On behalf of the Mongolian Parliament, Speaker Enkhbold expressed condolences over the terrorist attack that took place last night in Nice, France.

“I am pleased to take this opportunity to present the outcomes of the 9th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP9) held in Ulaanbaatar in April to the 11 ASEM Summit. It is my pleasure to say that the Mongolian State Great Khural (parliament) made a stride in hosting the ASEP9 which brought together over 170 delegates from 32 countries and that ASEP9 adopted a Declaration.

ASEP9 addressed such challenges as terrorism, climate change, Sustainable development program until 2030, disaster prevention management, energy safety and migration.

Asian and European parliamentarians agreed to consolidate ASEM process through our active engagement and efforts and inter-institutional bonds and enhance parliaments’ roles in favor of shared interests and goals of Asian and European nations.

I would like to note that parliamentarians of the two continents came up with a number of new ideas on improving ASEP approaches, translating decisions taken into reality, and making interconnection of states, governments, business and civil society organizations better.

We, parliamentarians discussed political and socio-economic situations of the international and regional scale and agreed that it is of importance to deepen our cooperation and partnership for peaceful settling any disputes and mastering challenges we are facing in adequate and effective ways.

Lawmakers of the two continents re-affirmed that ASEP has been comprehensively promoting activities of the ASEM and will do in future.

Organization of the ASEP9 at home was a clear manifestation of our commitment and goals. I have no doubt that the Ulaanbaatar meeting will make a certain contribution to strengthening Asia-Europe parliamentary partnership.”
