Parliament Speaker meets Ambassador of Kazakhstan

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On January 12, Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold met with Ambassador Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Mongolia Kalybek Koblandin at his own request.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Enkhbold noted that next year Mongolia and Kazakhstan will celebrate the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations. He then expressed his satisfaction with the development of the inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and stressed that the legal environment plays a significant role in the expansion of cooperation in political, economic and trade spheres.

Afterwards, he noted that the Mongolia-Kazakhstan business forum held in Ulaanbaatar in October 2015 has played an important role in the development of economic cooperation between the two countries. "The Kazakhstan-Mongolia business forum should be organized every year and the next forum is scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan" 

In turn, Ambassador Koblandin asked the Parliament Speaker to focus on launching a direct flight between Ulaanbaatar and Astana, opening a consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Bayan-Ulgii Province, resolving issues concerning the location for a new residence for the Kazakhstan Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, and Mongolia’s participation in Astana EXPO-2017. He also informed that a regular meeting of the Mongolia-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission is expected to held in January.

The Speaker of Parliament pointed out that he will be ready to provide support, if the authorities of Mongolia and Kazakhstan negotiate on technical issues for launching a direct flight, and emphasized that the foreign affairs ministries of the two countries will discuss the opening of a consulate. 

He said that the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry may participate in Astana EXPO-2017 representing Mongolia. Mr Enkhbold noted that he has spoken with ministers and state authorities about resolving issues concerning the location of a new embassy residence, and that the embassy will be entitled to begin the construction at the location approved by state authorities.

In return, Ambassador Koblandin said that Kazakhstan is ready to sign a cooperation document between Nur Otan, the ruling political party in Kazakhstan and the Mongolian People’s Party.
