Two tons of trash removed from Khukh lake bottom

Dornod /MONTSAME/ A total of two tons of waste including fishnet and other types of waste has been pulled out of the Kukh lake, reports the MONTSAME correspondent in Uvs aimag.

 

Previously, a research team named ‘Khuren Baavgai’, consisted of the scientists of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences conducted a research on the Khukh Lake ecosystem in 2017. Based on the result of the research, massive cleanup actions were organized twice last year. Moreover, people has collected four tons of waste from the bank of the lake to the specially protected zone.

 

In addition, groundwater of the Khukh Lake basin has been decreasing in recent years. As a result, rivers and streams facing danger to drain in summer drought.
