Deputy Foreign Minister meets with her Korean counterpart

Ulaanbaatar/ MONTSAME/ In connection with the 4th meeting of Mongolia-Korea Intergovernmental Joint Committee to be held on June 28, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Battsetseg met with the First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Cho Sei-young. 

At the meeting the parties discussed wide range of cooperation issues and development of Mongolia-Korea relations. The sides exchanged views on the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations to be marked next year. Deputy ministers discussed the special plans on anniversary celebration on both sides, visits and events to be held in the near future. 

In order to develop bilateral relations and cooperation, the Korean side proposed to start the Strategic Consultation meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. Mongolian side welcomed the proposal and offered to discuss the date and scope of the consultative meeting.


The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries agreed to continue to support the development of people-to-people exchange and strengthen friendly relations of the people of Mongolia and the People's Republic of Korea. The parties also pledged to focus on facilitation of travel. Mongolia informed about the establishment of visa center in Seoul, while the Korean side noted about the transformation of visa system and shortening of period for visa issuance.

Deputy Minister B.Battsetseg highlighted the importance of exchange in cultural and education sectors and requested to support the activities related to training of specialists in cultural heritage restoration, development of Mongolian studies and protection of cultural heritage of Mongolia.
