Migration to Khalkhgol soum increases due to ‘New soum’ project

Khalkhgol /MONTSAME/ The redevelopment of Khalkhgol soum is progressing with 80 per cent performance. Governor of Khalkhgol soum Kh.Khurel-Erdene underlined that migration in connection with ‘New soum’ project is increasing.
“Due to the remoteness, we are focusing on the safety of our energy supply and meeting the needs with boilers. A new boiler with capacity to supply seven office buildings and 20 apartments is under construction. With the implementation of New soum project, the number of job vacancies and migration inflow tend to increase. In 2018, the number of residents in our soum increased by over 100,” he said.
During the President’s visit to Khalkhgol soum of
Dornod aimag, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian
Federation to Mongolia I.K.Azizov noted that the initiative by President
Kh.Battulga has two main significance. “Firstly, it has the significance of
perpetuating the joint victory of Khalkhin Gol Battle and passing it to the
next generations. Secondly, it strengthens bilateral friendly relations. It is
a great aim of President Kh.Battulga to change the landscape of remote soums
and create an environment suitable for the 21st century.”
In addition to major construction works, a
4-meter-tall monument of Marshal G.K.Jukov, a present from Irkutsk Region, was erected in Khalkhgol soum. A
delegate of the Investment Development Agency of
Irkutsk Region A.S.Prosekin said “The Battle of Khalkhin Gol was a great
victory in the history of our two countries. The monument that was given as a
gift to the soum was installed in two days.”
