President Tasks to Expedite Works on Resolving Coal Theft Allegations

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh today met with Chief of Cabinet Secretariat D. Amarbayasgalan, Minister of Justice and Home Affairs Kh. Nyambaatar, Chief of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces S. Ganbyamba, Prosecutor General B. Jargalsaikhan, Director of the General Intelligence Agency P. Odonbaatar, Deputy Director of the Independent Authority Against Corruption G. Azjargal, and Director of the National Police Agency J. Bold.


During the meeting, the President criticized the Government and law enforcement agencies for not taking swift action on resolving the issues surrounding the coal theft allegations while the citizens are demonstrating for the fourth day at the central square.


The President questioned if there were any possible reasons for not revealing the names of those who are involved in the coal theft allegations and reminded the Prosecutor General that the latter has the power to submit to the State Great Khural the issue of suspending the immunity of the members of the State Great Khural who are involved in this case.


He further warned the authorities that the time is near to dissolve the State Great Khural and the Cabinet before their legal terms and grant the citizens’ right to vote as provided by the relevant law unless the issues are promptly resolved.


The President also tasked the Cabinet members to meet with citizens and openly present the measures being taken in this regard.

Secretary-General of the National Security Council J. Enkhbayar and Chief of the Office to the President Ya. Sodbaatar were present at the meeting.
