Heavy Rainfall Expected This Summer

Ulaanbaatar, June 6, 2024 /MONTSAME/.  This summer months are forecasted to have more rainfall than previous years and sudden intense rainfall in Mongolia. The Information and Research Institute of Meteorology, hydrology, and Environment of Mongolia has released its outlooks for July, August, and September 2024 and advises to be informed of the timely detailed forecast to be aware of sudden disasters due to the rising water level of rivers.

 

In July, Bayan-Ulgii, Uvs, Khovd, Gobi-Altai, Zavkhan aimags, the western part of Umnugobi, and the southern part of Bayankhongor aimag are expected to experience above-average temperatures. Meanwhile, the east part of Selenge aimag, the northeastern part of Tuv aimag, most parts of Khentii aimag, and the northern part of Dornod aimag are expected to have below-average temperatures, and other parts will have about the same as the average.  



The Meteorology Institute’s Precipitation outlook for July showed most parts of Uvs aimag, the western parts of Zavkhan, Khentii, Dornod, Khuvsgul, Arkhangai aimags, the east parts of Selenge, Tuv aimags, the northern parts in Bayankhongor and Sukhbaatar aimags having above the average rainfall than in previous years, and other parts of the country experiencing the average.

 

In August, Bayanulgii, Uvs, Zavkhan, Khuvsgul, Arkhangai aimags, the northern part of Khovd, Gobi- Altai, Bayankhongor aimags, most parts of Bulgan, and Uvurkhangai aimag, forecasted to be warmer than previous years,  and other parts are expected to be about the average. The total rainfall in Umnugobi, Dornod, Sukhbaatar aimags, most parts of Dornogovi aimag is expected to be above the average and other parts to be the same as the average.

 

In September, the average temperature as well as  rainfall are expected to be about the same as the average across the country.
