Ulaanbaatar, March 25, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The exhibition “Descendants of Chinggis Khaan: Rus' and the World” opened on March 19, 2026, at the Kremlin Museums in Moscow, capital of the Russian Federation.
Organized to mark the 220th anniversary of the Kremlin Museums, this major exhibition is notable for being the first official exhibition in Russia named after Chinggis Khaan, the founder of the Great Mongol Empire.
Held in the Assumption Belfry of the Kremlin and the halls of the Patriarch’s Palace, the exhibition features more than 150 rare exhibits related to the history of the Mongol Empire and the Golden Horde. These items are drawn from over ten Russian cultural and historical institutions, including the Kremlin Museums, the State Hermitage Museum, the State Historical Museum, the Sh. Marjani Cultural Foundation, the National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg, and the Russian Museum. Notably, many of the exhibits, preserved in present-day Russia and directly connected to the descendants of Chinggis Khaan, are being displayed to the public for the first time.
Scholars consider the exhibition to be of significant historical importance, as it offers a fresh perspective on the Mongol Empire in Russian historiography, as well as on the role and place of Chinggis Khaan’s descendants in Russian history and the nature of their interactions.
The exhibition “Descendants of Chinggis Khaan: Rus' and the World” will run until July 19, 2026. A series of public lectures, guided tours, and educational programs will also be organized as part of the exhibition.
