President on a working trip to Dornod

Amendments to Labor Law approved
The Parliament approved amendments to the Labor law at today’s plenary session. It is common that employers in manufacturing and service sectors hire persons without establishing labor contract and not giving salaries for a certain period of time. Therefore, lawmakers included new articles on probationary and training periods to regulate the issue in detail. The amendments indicated that an employer can make employee practice, following an experienced employee to improve his/her skill and experience and the probationary period should not exceed 3 months.

The International Think Tank for Landlocked Development Countries (ITT for LLDCs) and the University of Sydney jointly organized a conference themed “Exploring Connectivity in Landlocked Developing Countries” on April 20 at the UN House in Ulaanbaatar. The Cabinet agreed to discuss the amendments to the general agreement of up to USD 1 billion soft loan between the Government of Mongolia and Export-Import Bank of the People's Republic of China with corresponding Parliamentary standing committees.

Government and ADB agree to implement program to stabilize banking sector
The actual risk of irregularity in financial intermediary functions of banks is very high for some Mongolian banks due to the great amount of non-performing loans. In this regard, the government has agreed with the Asian Development Bank on implementing a Program on Restoration of Banking and Strengthening Financial Stability in order to compensate the financial deficit in banks to fulfill gaps of payment.

ADB loan agreement backed
Yesterday, the Cabinet discussed and backed loan agreements between the Government of Mongolia and the Asian Development Bank to jointly implement “Social welfare support program-2” and “Restoring Bank sector and strengthening financial stability program”. Then the Cabinet decided to submit the agreements to relevant parliamentary standing committees for their consent.

Monthly information session by Foreign Ministry takes place
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On April 18, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia held a monthly “Information hour” meeting and gave information about main actions and measures being carried-out in foreign affairs for the media. Kh.Mandakhtsetseg, Director of the Department of Public Diplomacy and Communication informed about an online meeting of Ts.Munkh-Orgil with Mongolia's diplomatic missions abroad and non-government organizations and Mongolian nationals living in other countries. 45 diplomatic missions and 28 NGOs and associations of Mongolian nationals in foreign countries attended the meeting.

Czech parliament delegates headed by Zuzka Bebarova-Rujbrova, Member of Parliament, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Petitions and Head of Czech-Mongolian friendship group at the Czech Parliament are visiting Mongolia. President attends first national symposium of citizens’ representatives
Presidential Office and Judicial General Council co-organized the first national symposium of citizen’s representatives in court on April 17, Monday in the State House. The symposium was attended by some 880 individuals consisting of 416 citizens’ representatives from 330 soums of 21 aimags and 9 districts of the capital city, 114 judges, 121 people representing public organizations, representatives of 77 NGOs and 121 representatives of Khoroos of the capital city’s 9 districts who addressed the role of citizens’ representatives in court and challenges in realization of the relevant law, and issued a recommendation on how to improve the present situation.
