Raw hide export allowed at beginning of next year
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the special meeting of December 25, the cabinet issued a resolution on permitting exports of raw hides and leader, particularly, horse hides, between January 5 and February 5 of 2016, as a one-time action.
Deputy PM Ts.Oyunbaatar and Minister of Finance B.Bolor were assigned to monitor the resolution’s implementations and to report back to cabinet.
According to statistics, 2.99 million horses were counted at the end of 2014, indicating an increase of 14.4 percent compared to the previous year.
Only 65.4 thousand hides or 29 percent out of the total 222.8 thousand prepared horse hides were exported in 2014, while over 200 thousand horses were slaughtered for food and 90 percent of the hides were exported in 2012-2013, resulting in increased income of livestock herders.
