Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/  A press briefing was held June 23 at the news center of Montsame Agency about the outcomes of Asia-Europe Consultative Meeting on Food Security held in Ulaanbaatar.

Officials from sectors of 17 different countries took part in the two-day event, attending discussions under topics “Food Production”, “Food Security” and “Nutrition.

The participants agreed that the genetically modified food source has become the pressing issue worldwide. Mongolia attended this meeting from a position that, in these times of danger of genetically modified food, the salvation can be the introduction of pastoral animal husbandry products into the global food networks and markets.

“As of today, Mongolia has 73 million heads of livestock. It is important for Mongolia to domestically produce meat and meat products for export”, said Mr N.Ariunbold, State Secretary of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

Accordingly, the conclusion from the meeting will be presented at the 11th ASEM Summit, expected on July 15 and 16 in Ulaanbaatar.
