Marmot plague vaccination underway

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ General Agency for Specialized Inspection warned adults and children above 6 years of age, living in the epicenters of marmot plague, to immediately get vaccinated. The vaccination is to last until July 28.

According to the statistics from the World Health Organization, approximately 2,000 people catch marmot plague and 5-15 percent of them die. Marmot plague outbreaks have become a pressing issue in Asia, Africa South America.

Mongolia is a major part of the Central Asian epicenter of this disease, having 137 soums of 17 provinces affected by the plague.
