MNCCI General Secretary meets delegates from Osaka
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On September 25, E.Oyuntegsh,
General Secretary of the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(MNCCI), received members of the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and
other business delegates.
Expressing thanks to the Japanese delegates for the visit, Mr.
Oyuntegsh pointed out Mongolian businesspeople, particularly SMEs want to increase types of exporting goods to Japan under the Economic Partnership
Agreement (EPA). By the EPA, the Mongolian export goods to Japan currently
include agricultural final products, felt slippers, leather products and drinks
and preparation from sea-buckthorn, he said and underlined the importance of
seeking cooperation opportunities and broadening the inter-chamber
collaboration.
As of first six months of this year, 1050 certificates of
origin have been granted to about 40 enterprises through 16 branches of the
MNCCI. In terms of sectors, over 30 percent of the certificates went to the
cashmere, wool and knitted goods, and about 10 percent—to producers of deep
frozen horse meat and offal.
Talking about present activities of the Mongolia-Japan
Business Council at the MNCCI, Ch.Chinzorig, the Council’s Secretary-General,
said this Council re-established in 2017 successfully co-organized this year
the 8th intergovernmental consultative meeting of private sector, trade and
investment sectors, an official visit of the Mongolian Foreign Minister to
Japan and a business visit of Mongolian entrepreneurs to attend the Foodex
Japan 2018 international exhibition. He added that the Council is working to
have businesspeople take part in the 21st Tokyo International Industry
Exhibition to be organized on November 14-16 in Tokyo.
In a period between 1991 and 2013, the government of Japan
has provided Mongolia with non-refundable aid of JPY 102.3 billion, soft-loans
of JPY 77.3 billion and technical assistance of JPY 36.5 billion.
The bilateral relations and cooperation entered the comprehensive partnership volume in 1997, and it is broadening year to year. As of first four months of 2018, the trade turnover reached USD 152,335 thousand which indicates an increase of 35 percent against 2017.
