National youth forum held for the fifth year

 “Let’s unite our power: Youth Leadership” fifth national forum on youth development was organized on August 25 in Ulaanbaatar with the participation of the Mongolian Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh.  In line with the Youth Day, celebrated in Mongolia every August 25, a month-long campaign for youth development is being organized by the Government of Mongolia from August 12 to September 12. Delegates of the government and non-government organizations, as well as local and international organizations engaged in youth development activities took part in the general forum of the campaign. 

 

Premier U.Khurelsukh opened the forum with a speech on government efforts and actions towards the development of young people in Mongolia and their participation in the government activities. As young people make up 33 percent of the population of Mongolia, PM U.Khurelsukh emphasized that the future of Mongolia depends on the youths. 

 

He further informed about the government actions for the youths, which include, a newly-established organization for youth development, law on youth development, which was approved in 2017 for the first time in Mongolia as well as a national program “Student with income” and educational loan fund, where students are able to receive loans from the fund for tuition and repay after their graduation. He also introduced about the government's plans to increase the monthly stipend for students of vocational educational schools and to establish a youth development fund. In 2018, the aforementioned educational loan fund provided loans totaling MNT 13.1 billion for 9231 students. This year, it is planned that around 11 thousand students will get loans amounting to MNT 33 billion.
