UNFPA delivers sanitary and hygiene kits to Bayan-Ulgii aimag

Kaori Ishikawa, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Head of Office in Mongolia worked in Bayan-Ulgii aimag on February 14. 


She met with Bayan-Ulgii aimag’s Citizen’s Representatives Khural Chairman D.Bauarjan, Governor of the aimag A.Galamkhan and relevant officials. 


During her working trip, Ms. Kaori Ishikawa handed over 100 dignity kits containing hygiene and sanitary items for girls and women to the aimag’s Emergency Management Agency with the purpose of supporting emergency preparedness in Bayan-Ulgii aimag. 


UNFPA Mongolia Head Kaori Ishikawa also got acquainted with One Stop Service Center to provide service to survivors of violence in Ulgii city of the aimag. 


The center was established in October 2018 with funding of MNT 100 million from the aimag’s local budget and MNT 130 million from the ‘Combating Gender-Based Violence in Mongolia’ project, which is being carried out by the UNFPA and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). 


The One Stop Service Center provides victims of gender-based violence and domestic violence with accommodations, as well as health, psychological, legal, counselling, and protection services. 


In 2019, the One Stop Service Center assisted 47 people, and 17 people in the first two months of 2020.
